Chelsea vs. Manchester United Preview & Tips

Life doesn’t get any easier for Manchester United this weekend as it faces its toughest test of the Premiership season – an away trip to Stamford Bridge to take on reigning champions, Chelsea. A slip-up in this match would most likely cost United top spot in the Premiership as the season reaches the halfway mark, while Chelsea desperately needs the win in this fixture to get its stalling title campaign back on track.

The English Premier League Overview | premier-league-betting

The Premier League (due to its official sponsors also called the "Barclays Premier League", and colloquially "The Premiership") is the top division in English football and is thus at the top level of the English league system. There are currently 20 clubs which partake in a round which spans from August up until May of the following year. An annual promotion and relegation system in conjunction with the lower Football League makes a fresh exchange of three clubs possible every year.

Great Voltigeur Stakes

The Great Voltigeur Stakes, sponsored by Ladbrokes, is a Group 2 race for three-year-old colts and geldings and run over a distance of one mile and four furlongs at York as part of the four-day Ebor festival in mid-August. As well as an important prize in its own right, the race is regarded as a major trial for the St Leger, the final British Classic of the Flat racing season, which is held in mid-September.

Juddmonte International Stakes

The International Stakes, sponsored by Juddmonte Farms, is a Group 1 Flat race for three-year-olds or older run over a distance of 1m2f and 88yds at York racecourse in mid-August.

First run in 1972, the race, devised by Major Leslie Petch, a former clerk of the course at York, brings together the generations and regularly attracts a Classic winner of that year to lock horns with older and similarly classy rivals. It is York’s richest race of the year and is the showpiece of its four-day Ebor festival.

Gordon Stakes

The Gordon Stakes, sponsored by Betfair since 2008, is a Group 3 Flat horse race for three-year-olds over a mile and a half at Goodwood, nowadays run on the opening day of the Glorious Goodwood five-day summer festival. It has a strong tradition as a trial for the St Leger at Doncaster and recent winners have a good record in the final Classic of the Flat racing season.
